UEFA Champions League Semi Final Action
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to square off
Action begins Tuesday
The UEFA Champions League semifinals begin on Tuesday with a bang as Bayern Munich host Real Madrid in a matchup between two of Europe's most storied clubs. You have to go back to 2012 to find Bayern Munich's last triumph against Real Madrid over two legs. Having won the first leg at the Allianz Arena 2-1, they made the worst of it in the return match at the Santiago Bernabeu, losing 2-0 and crashing out of the competition. Bayern will be looking to avoid a similar fate this time around, but they will face a tough task against a Real Madrid side that is in excellent form. The Spanish giants have won their last four matches in all competitions, including a 3-1 victory over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final.
The other semi-final match will see Arsenal host Manchester City on Wednesday. Arsenal will be looking to reach the final for the first time since 2006, while Manchester City will be looking to reach the final for the first time ever. The two teams have met twice in the Premier League this season, with Manchester City winning both matches. However, Arsenal will be confident of causing an upset, especially after their impressive 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-finals.
The UEFA Champions League semi-finals are always a special occasion, and this year's edition promises to be no different. With four of Europe's top clubs battling it out for a place in the final, there is sure to be plenty of excitement and drama.
